I
left the house at 0700 hrs. and headed to Waco. I took about 150
pictures. Click on the picture to see the full size image.
I
woke up at 0500 hrs. when the dogs started crying that they had to go
out. I looked out the window and could not believe it had snowed!
I
woke up Elfida and told her to get up and look outside. We were in
February already and the weather had been extremely warm. There
were no clouds. The haze was from the moisture coming off the
ground. I looked up and could see the moon.
You
can tell from the street that the ground was still warm. The snow
was already melting.
I
figured we had about four hours to take pictures before all the snow
melted. Traffic on IH 35 was moving at 75 MPH.
It
looked like we were going to end up with a clear sky. The
landscape looked like something from up north.
It
looked like a winter wonderland. It was so quiet, so
peaceful.....
The
snow clung on to everything. This is just off the IH 35. The
sun hadn't made it over the horizon yet, so everything had a blue tint.
The
sun started to come out and it painted the clouds gold and
red. This picture was taken at about 0730 hrs.
I made it to the fire tower by the Brazos River. I climbed up
to the top and took a series of pictures. Later I stitched them
together and got this panoramic picture.
I
was the first to walk across the bridge that morning. I noticed
that someone had ridden a bike across the bridge already.
The
eastside of the river walk was a strange sight. The concrete
sidewalk had retained enough heat that none of the snow stayed on.
You can see the duck standing on the concrete keeping his feet warm.
The
Waco suspension bridge.
My
tracks stand out on the white snow. I walked across the street,
took some pictures and then walked back across. I ran into my own
footsteps.
The
view from the eastside of the river.
One
duck is on the sidewalk and the other one is by the tree. The wind
was colder than the ground or the water.
