The hiking was great.  We walked and met a lot of other hikers.  Some carrying backpacks for overnight camping.  I don't think I want to try that yet.   Nothing like exercising with out really calling exercising.  We carried the Camelbacks with us.  They were very handy.  Luis carried a liter and a half and Carlos carried two and a half liters of water in his.

The scenery got better and better as we climbed up the side of the mountain.  After walking for about an hour and a half we figured we were not on a four mile loop.  We were still moving away from our starting point.  We decided to walk back following the same trail.

While walking back we noticed that we had missed a lot of scenery as we walked up the hill.  Our walk back to the basin was as slow as our walk in to the mountain.

Carlos was already feeling the morning bike ride and the afternoon hike.  No that's not a feather, just part of a plant behind him.  We hiked about nine miles on this trail.

Back at the hotel, we showered changed and rested a little.  Then we went out to one of the regular grease joints to eat dinner.  We were to hungry to want fancy food.  This is the top of a church at Study Butte with the mountain in the back ground.  We stayed up until about 09:30 PM and then we were sound asleep.

The next day I went with Carlos and Luis on thier bike ride.  I drove the pick up and took pictures.  This time they picked a road that went mostly down hill from the main road.  They rode about 9 miles.  Luis adjust his seat.

It was a beautiful morn for bike riding.  Maybe next year I will bring my bike.  Maybe.

After the bike ride we started to explore the area.  We climbed hill, went down canyons and creeks and inspected the wild life.

There was so much to look at!  They day got real warm and bright.  It felt great.  We would drive about a mile and then get out and walk around.  The landscape changed so much and there were so many different types of plants.  I could have spent all day in one place just looking around, but we wanted to go to the Rio Grande and view the entrance to the Santa Elena Canyon.  So, we moved on.
