Time at Home

And on the Road Again

Home Sweet Home

Lillian Almaguer looking very intently at the camera.  She doesn't like the flesh on the camera.  She should be crawling soon.
Elfida and a co-worker at University High School.
We went to Eagle Pass to visit my family.  While we were there I took Mom to the store and saw this headline on the local newspaper.

Another heartbreaking moment for a family...another young life taken in George's oil war.

Mom and Elfida looking at the plants in her yard.  It wasn't as hot a usual but it was still too hot.

This is the new plaza in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.  It has replicas of the pyramids and of some art work from the Aztecs and the Mayans.  It is a very nice plaza with a fountain that shoots water up about 40 feet in the air.

Elfida enjoying her self.
When we made it back to Waco Elfida went to help with the testing for the new police recruits.  We only had 97 persons show up and not all made it through the testing.  Lots of ex- military personnel came to test.

Elfida and some of the other workers at the testing site having a good laugh at the end of the testin.
The following weekend we went to Ft. Worth for a Marine Recruiter's Poolie function.  Waco's poolies did great.

Maiko picking up a military truck to inspect.
Waco's poolies coming back from their 1 1/2 mile run.  They got it done before the sun really started to cook.  Everyone was sunburned after the event.

This was the drill competition.  They brought in some real Drill Instructors to run the poolies through the paces.

Some Marine Corps love being spread by the D.I.s.  This portion was a tie-breaker.  They ran the poolies through a storm of commands and anytime they did it wrong or it took to long they were booted out.  The last poolie standing won the competition.

You can see the stress in the poolie's face.  He won the competition but it took a lot of effort.  Neither D.I. ever broke a sweat even though they were wearing their cammies and it was about 95 degrees outside.  They say it's because of the hat, but I think they just don't give themselves permission to sweat.

Top Neal and his group with their Over-all First Place trophy.  Ooh-Rah!

This was the Waco area group with their recruiters in black t-shirts and the poolies in red.

And of course my favorite photo model, Isabelle.  We were at Best Buys when I got this pictures.
She just loves being in front of the camera.

Well this was the first part of the year.  We were happy Carlos had made it home but sad that he had to leave again.  He is doing good in Japan.  We hear the worries from the parents whose son's are in Iraq.  I guess we are very lucky that Carlos went into a field that requires he be in Japan for two years.

When I was young, I would get home from school and do my homework while looking at the evening news.  They always gave the body count for the day, this was during the Vietnam war.  Now it is the same except I look at the news early in the morning when I get home from work.

It is so sad that so many young men have to die in a country where we are hated, fighting for people that prefer to see our troops die, trying to provide a democracy there while here at home the Republican administration rapidly erodes our constitutional rights by spying on us, tapping our phones and spreading hate between our different ethnic groups.

Show your support for the men and boys who put on their military uniforms.  Support them before they join, while they are in the military and after they come home.  Don't blame them for the bad decisions made by the current administration.  Don't forget to use the most important constitutional right you have, YOUR VOTE.

Give Peace a chance.....
