Spring Break. |

Red moon a-rising. When there is no pollution you can see it so clear.

| After walking all over the canyon
we made it back to town right after sun set. It was now pretty
cool outside. We found a Tex-Mex restaurant with some decent
food. The waiter took the picture of us. By the time we finished dinner it was about 30 degrees outside. We made it to the hotel room and cranked on the heater in the room. We were so happy we made the choice to stay at the hotel. |

We went back to the canyon to continue exploring it. The mornings were cold, the days warm and the nights colder, but it was a great vacation. We carried water and trail mix as we hiked. There wasn't much wildlife to see, but the natural formation were impressive.
| The Lighthouse Formation was a three mile walk and about a 500 foot climb. Once we got to the top, it was worth all the sweating. | ![]() |

Elfida and Dora explored a short cave. It looked like it might have been dug by men. Maybe someone had been prospecting here long ago.
| Walking along the dried river bed that created the canyon, Elfida found a geode. We saw some dear, cougar and coyote tracks and some wild turkeys walking around. | ![]() |

After a 7 mile hike, Elfida was ready for a short nap.
Elfida and Dora starting on one of the flat trails. These trails would be excellent bike trails for beginners.

On our last visit to the canyon, I took this picture about a mile out of the canyon. The land is so flat you can see for about 30 miles. About 80 miles northeast of here they had some huge grass fires that burned thousands of acres of land. This is the image most people have of Texas.

We made it back home and got to see Carlos. He bought Isabelle a Tonka bike. Isabelle loved it. She jumps on it any chance she gets. We got her a bike helmet already since she has fallen twice. The vest she is wearing in the picture use to belong to Maiko when he was about three years old. We had it in the closet and on this day I couldn't find any jackets for Isabelle at our house, but I found the vest and put it on her.

Waco graduated another batch of Police officers in March. Jay Sunday, retired Marine Corps recruiter, graduated that day. He was our contact with Carlos while Carlos was in boot camp. Sunday did his first month FTIing with one of my troops. He will make an excellent officer.

graduation. Hopefully he ends up on Midnights and I get a chance
to pick him for my squad.
