The Beginning of 2006

in Pictures

 

The year started as a very warm one.
 

Isabelle sitting on the neighbors driveway.  She looks so 70's.

We greeted the new year at our house with Maiko and his family and some friends.  Isabelle is getting more mature but hasn't grown any.  

Carlos was going to come home in March for a couple of weeks before going Japan.

I started to save money from my part time job to buy a LCD projector for the spare room.  We wanted to make it into a mini theater.

Elfida was saving up money for our Spring Break vacation.  We had picked Palo Duro Canyon here in Texas.  Dora had agreed to go with us.  Our only conflict was that Carlos would be coming in on that same week.  We tried to talk him into flying into Amarillo but he didn't want to.  Angie, a friend of Carlos agreed to pick him up at the Dallas airport.  We would meet him at home when we got back from vacation.

 

 
We got her the Barbie and then realized she was almost as big as Isabelle.  About a week later she took the dress off the doll and put it on herself.  It was incredible to see Isabelle actually fit in the dolls dress.  She is so petit.
Elfida just relaxing at home.  Carlos had just left for North Carolina and we knew that he would be living for Japan in a couple of months.  Maiko kept telling him that he would love Japan, but Carlos kept saying that it was so far away.  Now he emails and tells us how he loves Japan.
Valentine's Day!  Elfida got roses from me and from Maiko.  I took them to school and then Maiko took his later on.
Elfida's sister, Marie, gave Isabelle a trampoline which is in our backyard.  She loves to go out and jump on it.
And her is our newest grand daughter Lillie.  She looks more like Maiko than Isabelle.
She is curious about everything and her hands are always reaching to grab whatever is in front of her.
This is Carlos and a Friend, Garcia.  It is one of the few pictures we have of him from North Carolina.  He had lost some weight and was looking thin.
On our way to Palo Duro Canyon during Spring Break we stopped at the Post, Tx, railroad depot.   Very nice looking building.
This is Palo Duro Canyon.  It is beautiful and very family friendly.  We were going to camp out there but the nights were too cold.  We stayed at a small hotel in Canyon and then drove the 10 miles to the park every day.   Next time we go we are taking our mountain bikes.  Dora went with us.
The air was clean and cold.  While we were on top of the rim you needed a jacket, but once you got to the bottom of the canyon it got very warm.  The sun was bright and we ended up with a good sunburn.
Lunch in the canyon consisted of finding a good place to park and getting out the ice cooler and the cold cuts.  Either we walked a lot and we got very hungry or that was some of the best ham I have ever eaten.

Elfida climbing down so she could climb back up to were I was.  It was just like being kids and getting to climb all the rock formation and exploring everywhere.
One lone cedar growing out of a rock.  We climb canyon walls, decended into dried river beds and walked the canyon bottom.
